Mary Ellen Miller and Mark Miller

After raising 4 boys, as well as having a long career with the City of St. Petersburg, Mary Ellen  discovered her artistic side in 2003. She was inspired by some stained glass windows that she wanted to be able to make and immediately began taking classes.

By 2005 she began displaying and selling work at art shows.

Mark’s artistic experience goes back a little further. In addition to spending 10 years as a tattoo artist in the 70’s and 80’s in Chicago, he has done stained glass, photography, jewelry making and woodworking. When Mary Ellen discovered her love for glass art, he quickly joined in her effort.

The garage of their 1924 Craftsman Bungalow in the Historic Kenwood neighborhood of St. Petersburg had been the center of their house restoration efforts and Mark had made it a well-equipped woodworking shop.  However, as often happens as we go through life, their priorities changed and more and more the woodworking tools have given way to the demands of their new passion.

Together they create windows, panels and decorative items using traditional leaded and copper foil techniques. This includes custom-made commission pieces and repair work. Mary Ellen also makes fused glass jewelry, bowls, and other decorative pieces.

Mary Ellen and Mark are members of The Arts Center in St. Petersburg, FL and PAVA (Professional Association of Visual Artists). Their work can be seen at various art shows and markets in the Tampa Bay area.
